How ignorant people can be?

Albert Einstein: `Only two things are endless - the Universe and human stupidity. But I am not sure about the Universe`.

Question: Have you seen that movie about jewish-arabian conflict in which the capital city of Israel is Tokyo and all it`s inhabitants are speaking perfect japaneese? No, you haven`t? Well, that`s because it doesn`t exist. But this one does. So after you`ve seen it, you may feel confortable to say that now you`ve really seen everything.

If someday, somewhere, a horse comes to me and says `I am the president of The United States of America`, I sure won`t be troubling my mind with it for a long. After all, it wasn`t me who elected it. Those, of course, were Americans...

call me an ignorant but I don't get your post.

I do .... ha, ha, ha, ... Sorry, but I can't stop laughing ... ha, ha, ha, ...

This is, of course, supposed to be a movie about the "Srbian-Muslim conflict", but the "Serbian capital" here is Budapest, and everybody are speaking perfectly - Hungarian!

I'm watching this movie at this very moment, and that was he reason I came here on IMDB.

My God, Ed Wood's "Plan 9" is outgoofed! Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha,...!!!!

Ha, ha, ha, .... This is getting better and better every minute!

The bus goes to "Krizevci". However, KrizevCI is a town in Croatia, while in Serbia, there can only be - KrizevAC.

HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA......

"Nazis and Communist were killing Muslims" who "were living here 600 years"???
HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA,....

What about Muslims?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? It actualy got even worse? Just like Einstein predicted? I can't believe you've got that far watching this movie. (Although I don't know how far it really is - I quit watching it some 15 minutes after the beginning. It wasn't funny at all, it was so unbelievably frustrating.)

reply

You're apparently easily amused. Small minds and all that, I suppose. Oddly, I missed the announcement that this was a documentary.

Could be worse.
All those Hungarian Serbs could've been speaking French!

Not so important, but frustrating: the capital of Serbia is Budapest?!?, Serbs speak Hungarian!?!, Nazis and Communist were killing Muslims who were living here 600 years!?!... Fortunately, I didn't see the rest of the movie.

Not so important, but very frustrating: Serbs are in the same category with Nazis and Communists.

Very important and very frustrating: the message of this movie - "You see, we Americans like Muslims! Who said that we don't like them?"

Incredibly important and incredibly frustrating: people are watching this movie and don't even know they've just been brain-washed.

It's not just that I blame people for being ignorant (you've noticed that I didn't call them stupid, although I wanted), but I've been wondering - is there any other nation (non-USA), or any other film industry (non-Hollywood) in this world capable of doing such a thing WITHOUT ANY CONSEQUENCES AND WITHOUT ANY SENSE OF QUILT OR SHAME?

Please, don't tell me that I'm just been paranoid. This is not funny at all.

As an American, I find it deeply troubling that you would accuse my countrymen of not having any sense of quilt.
Please, have a read here and I think you'll agree that you are mistaken.

Ok, I was really pissed off... :)
How can you expect me to think about spelling English in the state of mind in which I can't express what I feel even in my mother-language?

Sorry if I offended some really nice and smart American people out there, but then I wonder what would a really nice and smart American do in a message board about "Sniper 2"?

those movies are never 100 % political correct.
Those movies are made to entertain people with action scenes and cheap stories.

I think someone who is clever and smart, recognizes that this movie has not really something to do with the serbian- muslim conflict in former Jugoslavia.

It is like "behind enemy lines", where the US are always the goodies and the serbs are always the badies, that kill muslims.

But what about the Iraq ? Now some stupid US marines kill muslim civilians in massacres...

Entertain?
By disregarding any common sense and geogrpahy?
I mean, I know that most Americans themselves claim to be geography ignorant, but would it hurt to get at least the country, cities names and language straight if you are about to land the movie at a very specific location on earth?

I LOVED Sniper (1) but this one is horrible so far (I have it on paused, 14:36 min).

"They're led by a rogue general named Mulik Valstoria"

That's not even a Slavic name.

"There's a group of separatists in Gilau that'll help you."

I never heard of this palce, and googled it, it is in Romania.

Folks here said the locals speak Hungarian and that the action partially takes place in Budapest?

This is an even bigger mess.

Right, right. Are you serious? It is propaganda, brain-washing, call it whatever you want. Mentioning specific truth based events/people WILL come off as an opinion and judgement of the same. There are many good action flicks with fictional places/events. Even if you don't plan to bash anyone by making a movie based on partial truth, you convey a message (to the general public) and create an opinion about the real event.
And often people are too busy or lazy to go and do a full research on the event, so he basically ends up thinking "Ah those crazy Serbs/Iraqis/Afgahnis/Russians/fill-in-the-blanks"

> It is like "behind enemy lines", where the US are always the
> goodies and the serbs are always the badies, that kill muslims.

Same as above.
Have you forgotten that that was the EXACT message shoveled down the people?

These movies just carry on the same idea, and continue to disillusion the average American.

reply

Crappy movie or not, uninformed viewer or not, even if the average American adult wasn't aware of the inaccuracies(I wasn't, most of them mentioned here), I highly doubt they'd say "who cares".

I think it's hilarious/sad/unacceptable too and the studio and the most pivotal crew members should be fined for it , but saying the average American has an indifferent or intentional disregard to entertainment over facts is just as sad. It's also worth noting it was straight to DVD, if it was in the cinema, it would've been ridiculed widely. and this movie wasn't a big joint project by thousands or millions of us, just 0.0000000000000000000000000000000001% of us. Hell, I haven't seen the movie, stumbled here on the usual endless chain of imdb actor/movie associations haha.

Maybe we do generally know less about land that isn't a warzone or America itself, but me and my immediate family/friends are always appreciative when we're informed of new things, we're never proud of learning late, but we're certainly not doing it out of spite, so it's kinda hard to be ashamed especially when it's pointed out so negatively, no one knows everything. I'm guessing if you go door to door to every other country you might find the same thing. Sorry if I'm misinterpreting the post and you guys are over exaggerating your anger a little, which doesn't bother me too much honestly, hard to exact emotions with a keyboard. But between the OP's first post and signature it just seems like they have a chip on their shoulder about Americans already.

jesus tap-dancing christ what is wrong with you people. movies are meant to entertain yes but not insult my mind. honestly if your going through all the trouble to make a movie then at least make it accurate. i did however watch this movie the whole way through and at about the point that mila_galeb shut it off i had the whole thing down. you werent missing much.

B-movie - The term B-movie originally referred to a motion picture, made on a low or modest budget, intended for distribution as the less-publicized, bottom half of a double feature during the so-called Golden Age of Hollywood. Although double features largely disappeared over the course of the 1950s, the term B-movie continues to be used in a broader sense, referring to any low-budget commercial motion picture intended purely to entertain and turn a profit. Popcorn-flick is a common synonym.

I dig these mindless action flicks, horrible non-sequitors/goofs/plot holes and all. You have to understand that their very raison d'etre is to make the investors some money, not illuminate mankind. Their incidental mindless entertainment value is just an accessory (and a welcome one to me). If you want engaging dialog, carefully researched and accurate sets/costumes, and an overall insightful and uplifting film experience, go to the art-house cinema up the street. Don't mess with my pulp!

I came to this board just to confirm if my hearing was alright. This movie is absolute nonsense. When I heard "partisans" I started laughing. I suppose that's entertainment too...

Movie's a biggest pile of s**t I've ever seen. Well, in a while actually.
Those geographical inacuracies aren't that small as one might presume, its not just a few dialects spoken improperly, they made a whole *beep* Balkan look like one country!

>It is like "behind enemy lines", where the US are always the goodies and the >serbs are always the badies, that kill muslims.

So true! ;-P

But who cares when you have the movie that's got muslims that lived for 600 years and fought serbian hungarian-speaking partisans, and then, as Turkish from Snatch would say, Ze Nazis came! :-D

Gee, you would almost thing that the people of the world didn't give a f*u*c*k about offending the national pride of a the Serbian people.

it is unfortunate that the makers of this film decided to do what they did. to add insult to.. insult, they don't even list "hungarian" as a language used in this film in the imdb profile.
And the reason that you believe that it was the filmmakers themselves who entered the film on IMDb is?

. . . in which some moron is just now figuring out that a film's setting and the actual shooting location need not be identical.

You'll be even more surprised when you learn that Star Wars wasn't actually shot on other planets, in space, etc., and when you learn that a huge percentage of interiors in films aren't even shot buildings at all resembling the building you're seeing--they're rather sets in big warehouse-type buildings.

The mysteries of the world never cease, do they?

On a related note, I'm thinking about starting a campaign re the dangers of exposing morons to fictions.
