Billy's gift: They never show what it is. Why tease us with it?
The parents couldn't hear the bell which means they don't believe in Santa, but they don't question where the extra presents came from?

reply

I would suggest that what Billy got isn't as important as the fact that he seemingly got what he wanted. Plus he made friends.

Your second point it something that has been overused in Christmas related movies and television shows for decades. In their universe Santa Claus actually exists and gives gifts for Christmas. The idea that the adults not only don't believe in him or question where the extra gifts come from is ridiculous. It's a tired old cliche and those that write these stories need to stop using it. They need to be more creative.

He's taking the knife out of the Cheese!
Do you think he wants some cheese?

Excellent observation. Whatever and however wonderful that gift could have been to Billy, it would have meant nothing to a lot of people.

Is very bad to steal Jobu's rum. Is very bad.

In the Director's Cut edition, it was a gory "Frankenstein's Head" that scared Billy really badly and he screams and throws it out the window into the snow where it nightmarishly breaks into a dozen or so gory pieces, and Billy is last seen sobbing in the dirty corner of his bedroom. Christmas just doesn't work out for him. I found the scene extremely disturbing and gory and personally am glad they left it out of the movie

But you see that at least explains why Christmas didn't work out for Billy! This is another example why I believe director's cuts are generally superior to standard releases.

Thanks for the information.

Actually I was joking (in case anyone didn't know)

(love this movie, btw)

LOL! It's a fact that the internet is replete with folks who don't get sarcasm, self-deprecation, or even humor in general.

Yet I'm quite disappointed to learn that there is no director's cut with an exploding Frankenstein's monster head...
