Weird (HUGE SPOILERS)

When those men kill Tommy at the end, they call him Mister Angelo.
Tommy and his family got new identities, so why would Tommy say yes after they called him mister Angelo. He has an other name, and i recon that he would want nobody to know that his real name is Angelo, so why the hell did he say yes. If he just had say no, maybe he would still be alive, maybe!

yeah i know that, but he had an other name, so he must have replied with no, because now he was Mr.Smith or something:p

reply

yeah that was weird. he should've known it was the mob when they called him Mr.Angelo. then he could've gunned them down. of course he should've always carried a gun with him too.

This is one of the most glaring problems in the game, especially if it were to be turned into a movie. A more accurate response for Tommy would be a spontaneous, automatic, but slightly confused "whaaa?" (softly) for a few seconds before the realization (and slug) hit him.

Like banana_fingers said, It's like a reaction.

This can be looked at however you want. It can be a mistake, or it could be up in the air for interpretation. I'm going to interpret it:

Tommy hasn't been bothered in more than a decade by the mob, he's relocated, and after all this time he's probably eased up. For all we know, he probably uses his real name with government officials who visit him periodically or something. So then these two clowns show up in a red T-Bird wearing funky clothing and refer to him by his real name. In that situation, I probably would have responded "Yes?" rather than "Uh...No...My name is Mr. Smith." They know who he is, they might be friendly, they might not be. Who expects to get shot in their front yard in a nice neighborhood? Sure Tommy was aware Salieri would get his revenge even if it took years as it did with Frank, but I think Tommy was just loosening up and wasn't expecting it as much as we might think he did.

Your right bro i mean not everybodys perfect.

reply

or maybe tommy is a bit like homer simpson....

"now homer, when i say, 'hello mr thompson', and step on your foot...."

reply

well.... salieri did send them on the hit, ( the whole, mr.salieri sends his regards line) he probably supplied the intel and told them his real name...

reply

then how old must salierei be??? the year is 1955 or smthng... salieri already was in his 60s in 1930s

reply

It could have been a son or nephew of Don Salieri that ordered the hit. Or it could have been a "last command" to his successor.

It is pretty obvious. It was a gut reaction. Thomas Angelo was born with that name, and had it for such a long time. When they called out his name, it was more an automatic response. Just when a salesman asks you if you need any help, and without thinking, you say no.

As for the person that compared Tom to Homer Simpson, he must be out of his mind. Tommy was one of the smartest guys in the game, and one of the most proficient, and effective man. I mean, killing tons of men in the museum is pretty remarkable.

Another way your could see it (although I am clutching at straws and it is probably just a plot hole) is that he knows they will kill him and accepts it. He has lived/enjoyed his life with his family and but now has to pay the price for his betrayal. Although you clearly see his shocked face when they pull the gun out so this theory doesnt make much sense =P

I'm glad to be with you, Samwise Gamgee, here at the end of all things
