good movie . stupid ending

I play poker and gamble alot so I really enjoyed the movie and relate a lot to huck. But the ending was just retarted. Through the whole movie Hucks dad just beats on him the whole time, and takes all his money in the diner. So then he finally gets a chance to beat him at his own game, but instead mucks the bullets to let him win ??? And what made this ending even worse was that his dad didn't even win the tournament. So pretty much by him folding that hand he handed the tournament to the other kid. Just a dumb ending.. But still good movie.

with regard to the folding of the pair of aces... if he'd played them, he'd have faced the kid in the final hand and been dealt the same cards that his father did. would he have been as aggressive?

i don't know that he necessarily handed the championship. in fact, they missed the point that they could have made... they spent that time with duvall making the stand about it being "his time" in those previous championship wins. bana decides to fold the winning hand because he's "decided" that it is his father's time? no... "his time" happens without someone "deciding".
