A Foreign Film from Canada- may be the funniest thing I ever heard

Elaine, are you watching the clothes because I can't take my eyes off the passion.

reply

uhhhh...well it is (95% of it) in a completely different language (French), so...it's not that laughable

reply

I think its funny also, considering Hollywood considers Canadian ticket sales as domestic.

In a way, The Barbarian Invasions is different: it's a French-Canadian film; it is acted and made by Quebecoix.

Everything was beautiful and nothing hurt -Slaughterhouse-Five RIP Kurt Vonnegut

Isn't the official Oscar award for a Foreign Language Film? French is considered a Foreign Language I think.

reply

Foreign means from an other country.

As I know Canada, even though it's a french-english country, is not a part of the United States. The language has nothing to do with this category.

It's not the 51th state, a sub-state, an Alaska extention or even a colony of the US. So it's a foreign film. And british movies are also considered as foreign. Check your facts. But it doesn't mean a foreign movie can't be an offical Oscar winner movie as for instance Slumdogg Millionaire or The King's Speech.

WRONG

The award is for Foreign Language, country of origin has less to do with it, as long as the film is in english it will be considered for Best Picture instead of Best foreign, as it most likely will be released in the states
