making fun of the 3rd world

Was it a purposeful irony and social commentary in the making fun of 3rd world people at least thrice in this movie (the scenes with the discussion of decent music, another about having many kids, and slimy Albanians and foreign drug dealers)? They led a pretty 'brutish' life themselves even by 3rd world measurement. Despite the faux intellectualism, the only legacy he left was incidentally decent kids and the redemption of one not his own but for whom he was part of the cause, due to his unbridled wantonness, for going off course in the first place, . And in this he was the most accomplished one of the whole lot of his friends! I was happy he kinda admitted it when he spoke of his cretinism in his conversation with the Chinese woman, but I'm wondering about the rest of it, being a 3rd worlder, it seemed pretty cold and offhanded so I'm not entirely sure how to take it.

It's a portrait of a man. He also cheats on his wife(within 6 months of marrying her), abuses his position as professor to get young women to sleep with him, is an *beep* to his son at times and likely during his upbringing... all parts of his imperfections. Casual racism is just another trait he has, as do indeed many people.
