Listen to the french canadian version of Slap Shot (with Paul Newman) and you'll understand why Québécois is a language

So I guess they don't speak English in New Zealand and they don't speak German in Switzerland. How dumb is that? If we speak a totally different language, how come there are SO MANY French people in Québec, and that they seem to understand us just fine?

Saying that Québécois is a language shows that you don't know much about the French language, whether you be French or not.

P.S. To the guy who says that I call myself a Tremblay... yes, so? This is my last name. This is the most common name in Québec, I can't really help it. :P

It's from French Canada, so at most times they speak french, but they do speak english a few times

The language is française but the dialect is québécois aka français du Québec.

Quebecois is a dialect, just like le ch'tis or l'acadien - let's not get carried away.

You guys are hopeless. The Quebequois are people from Québec (french canada). Their french is specific of the place they live and it evolved differently from french of France. That's the reason why some of you may consider it as a dialect. But it's french, french people understand it, I understand it. They have their own accent(quite normal) but it's still french.

Just like English from UK sounds differently from New Zealand english, Australian english, Kenyan english, Sweden english or North american english (NORMAL!!) And french is spoken with plenty of different accents all over the world in America, in Asia, Africa, and Europe. French canadian are Acadians(Acadiens in french) and sometimes Cajun(french from the US) but not Ch'tis.

Ch'tis speak ch'timi a sort dialect from the North of France. Some Ch'tis immigrated in the New World but they don't speak ch'ti there anymore! They're speak french acadian, one of the most beautiful and musical french of the world.

It is normal for the diversity of the same language, it changes from land to land, from across the oceans, even rivers.

In the movie "Bride Flight", they speak Dutch in NZ, while their children most speak English which is bit different to the ones spoken in UK or US or any where that shares the same origins of the British language. So Dutch sounds like Germany in this movie, and I am a total stranger to Dutch tongue. Sweden sounds like English to me, when I watched other movie about the dragon tattoo girl.

As a non-European, I learned francaise and espanol, alongside my major in English literature in collage decades ago.

There are two versions of French in this movie: the Quebec French and the France French (spoken by the French Marina Hands playing a French girl). And yes, there are fragments of English too, and crumbs of Italian.
