She said something like: do you really care for him? get it done before he loses interst in you or something like that... get done what? what is her plans when she said that to her daugther? Later when the sign for rent is out, and the mom wants to leave town, I became even more confuse... If you understand that deal, please explain it to me...

I think she was talking about Mason being a potential future husband for Danny. She was saying she needed to keep his attention before he lost interest in her --like Danny might not have too many more chances for a long term companion...

it's psychological abuse, the mother can't cope with her daughter being happy... the part of inviting him over was just to strengthen the following punch in danny's face by saying mason will anyway lose interest sooner or later.
