Liz says she didn't shower because the shower drain was so clogged.
So why didn't she bathe, using the kitchen or bathroom sink, with a washcloth? I've known people, mostly older people, who merely wash themselves while standing at a sink.
Liz could have easily washed her hair that way also.

Seeing what she lived in I highly doubt they had a clean wash cloth just laying around and as bad as the bath tub was I bet the sinks were worse. Plus she was so busy parenting her parents I bet it was the furthest thing from her mind.
