I don't know about vice versa, but I think that especially the younger generations of Americans have no hard feelings about Cubans and/or Latinos. I mean, this is a pretty progressive and accepting period for America anyway, just look at our new President.

But out of curiosity, do Cubans hate Americans?

I know Canadians don't hate Cubans. Where I am from we treat everyone equal. But everyone is different thou.

Wow that made me sad - 8 years later and look at the new president now :(

Everyone is different. I personally have not come across a lot of anti-cuban sentiment. However, I'm not going to say that it doesn't exist. As far as Latinos go, that term is much to broad. I think anti-Mexican sentiment is more prevelent than any other anti-latino sentiment. This is simply because of illegal immigration and the inherent problems that brings, but as a whole, I don't believe there is a lot of anti-latino sentiment.

This movie was set in the past.. i dont think most americans have issues with cubans.. i know i dont.

None hates the cubans, they are only the victims of a totalitarian and criminal socialist dictatorship.

I'm a 10-year-old American, and I don't think anybody in my generation (or probably anyone under the age of 40-50) has anything against Cubans. In fact, if you're unfortunate enough to be like me and know next to nothing about history, you probably wouldn't even know that there ever was any animosity between Americans and Cubans.

Anybody who looks at films of the Fifties would know that there was generally good feeling among Americans for the people of Cuba, Central America, South America and others as a result of a "Friends Across the Borders" type of campaign. There are especially a lot of musicals set in these countries.

Also, remember that we not only loved Lucy (Lucille Ball) but Ricky (Desi Arnaz), who was Cuban. They were a beloved couple who even did a couple of successful films together.

Americans were very welcoming about the culture, especially the music. Others who were especially popular included orchestra leader/actor Xavier Cugat.
