'Grand Theft Parsons' script

Whilst I'm aware that a number of you would rather poke out their own eyes than sully them this way, I've just been alerted to the news - actually, that makes it sound a bit more efficient than my mate mentioning it in passing, which is actually what happened - that there is a copy of the script on the loose, out 'there'.

I've had a look, and it appears to be a slightly earlier - and possibly better - draft than that which we finally shot, but if you're interested it is here: http://www.screentalk.biz/scripts/_GrandTheftParsons_Finished(FD).pdf

Oh, and if you hate it - I really, really don't need to know...

My girlfriend and I watched three movies this weekend: Babel,Flags Of Our Fathers and Grand Theft Parsons. We both liked GTP the most. The fact that we're both Gram Parsons fans may have had something to do with it, but that fact that it was the most entertaining and interesting movie of the three had a lot to do with it too. Great movie! Thanks a lot!

Hi jdrysdale

If you *really* are the author of this film (which I will *never* know for sure), I just want to tell you that your film definitely made my day. It’s the most script driven film I can remember, and I will watch it many more times. It’s great; wonderful moving images and unforgettable dialogue!

The turn taking between Barbara and Susie quarrelling in the car is totally brilliant – timing and emphasis is just perfect!

And the rest of the dialogue is just as great. And so is the drama structure. It’s all so very solid and convincing. It could definitely have happened exactly just like you say it did.

All the best

Well, it really is me.

And thanks, although everyone will assume that you're my brother, or something.

Hi Drysdale!

Not so! Not so at all! Everyone can easily see that English is not my mother tongue! And since I have revealed my true identity to IMDb/Amazon, I’m not a fake identity. I am what I say that I am. And I’m on the other side of the planet earth from you!

I never met you, and I’ll never meet you IRL, but through you film GTP I feel that I know something about you. And I definitely like it.

I strongly feel that your film is sort of a love song. For the time being I’m not sure about exactly *what* the love is about, but I know I’ll eventually find out. At least it’s about US culture, and US popular music. And on that … count me in!

BTW, how did you feel when imaging did not “fit” with your own vision? I always wonder: these folks who actually *write* the films, how do they feel when the imagery does not look like what they wanted.

Well, Opera and film being the two most “impossible” art forms, so maybe you are in the same position as the librettist?

All in all: are you satisfied with the cinematography and editing in your film? If not, what would you have re-done and how?

Hi Cine!

And the rest of the dialogue is just as great.

I would definitely agree. This movie had some of the most clever dialogue I have heard in quite a while. Very understated, deadpan, yet hilarious; all the time delivered expertly by the cast. I was most fond of the interplay between Larry and Phil, particularly Larry's drug inventory and his explanation of the Yin and the Yang (etc., etc., etc., ad nauseum).

It's a shame, but that's disapppeared. As a budding screenwriter myself I'd love to take a look at it.

One of my favourite films to watch after a night out!
