a strange man comes to town and the local kids, who know nothing about him, invite him out to play, risking their own lives. That's not common sense where I am from.

Yeh its just a movie. In the movie the town is supposed to be a small town where everyone knows each other, it would have been the kids charactors nature.

Yeah there are. Anyone remember "Slingblade" where the friendly small town child and his mother invites a murderous mentally challenged stranger to come and live with them?

I never expected Danny Deckchair to be anything but a light comedy. I see no reason to analyze it although I would have preferred if they left out all the scenes after his chair lands. I really liked it up until that point.
