Wizard of Oz

Admittedly I haven't given this a whole lot of thought, but with Danny's line about Kansas and his love interest being named Glenda (Glinda in the Oz story), I can't help wondering if there are other nods to The Wizard of Oz in this film. I'm thinking the overlapping yellow balloons look a bit like a yellow brick road, and Danny certainly goes from a black and white life to a world of color, a world he drops into after entering a terrible storm. Trudy's characterization of Danny as "one of the little people" (and Big Jim's characterization of nearly everyone in Clarence as "little people") brings to mind the Munchkins. I'm sure there's tons more....

Anyway, I'm not meaning to imply it's some sort of remake or update - if that were so, Danny would want to go home - just a kind of homage. Thoughts?

Neighbor: Hey Danny! What're you doing?
Danny: I want to get back to Kansas!
