Anyone else notice this is basically "Doc Hollywood"?

Ignore the medical aspect. A guy suddenly appears in a cute country town and people want him to stay. He leaves, but he returns for the woman he fell in love with.

Say, I think you just described Pride and Prejudice.

Fair comment.
The small difference is that in Pride, he returns to take her back to his mansion in a different county. In Doc Hollywood and Danny Deckchair, he returns to live in the town where the woman lives.

So then, it's Notting Hill with a gender-switch.

I guess there aren't a lot of plot variations when it comes to rom coms. :)
