Question about Lolo and Andrea *SPOILERS*

*spolier alert*

Because I adore Diego Luna I watched this once more and I realised there's one thing I don't quite get. You could think I'm stupid, but I'll have to ask:

When Lolo wants to interrupt Andrea in bed with Carlos, he calls her. Makes sense.
She answers, hears silence, thinks it's the wrong number or something. Makes sense.
He presses play and plays a taped conversation of hers back to her. He even turns up the volume so that when she hangs up she can hear it through the wall. Makes less sense! (I hope I remembered it correctly.)

My question is: Why did he play the massage? Did he want to get caught? Or?

What did you make of it?

Everything is fine! I was just swinging from a chandelier without a seat belt.

reply

If I remember it correctly, it's at first her answering machine that plays the message loud. Then she picks up the phone again to stop this because the recorded conversation is rather annoying for her older lover Carlos. I don't know whether Lolo wants to get caught (perhaps unconsciously yes, to stop his obsession with Andrea) but he obvoiusly wants to prevent Andrea having sex with Carlos.

reply

It just seems like a very drastic measure, to play the recorded message back to her, since it's inevitable he'll get busted! But I suppose the idea of Andrea having sex with Carlos could have caused poor Lolo to panic...

Actually he puts the tape tho interrupt them, but when she hangs up, she hears the echo (is that spelled correctly?) of the recording coming from lolo´s apartment, so, he didn´t want to get caught, but didn´t hink that she was going to hear the far sound of Lolo´s computer

reply

So he put the tape on to make it sound like it was HER answerer phone that played it back?!

reply

yeah, I guess, maybe it could work as both, as a distraction from keeping her away of her lover and/or a malfunction on her answering machine... always that I watch this movie I hate the way a guy who hacked his way into an important swedish bank could screw up a lot for her neighbor...

reply

Yeah, poor old clumsy Lolo. :-)
Anyway, thanks for helping me get this whole answer phone thing, it just made very little sense to me at first!
