"If my calculations are correct, when this baby hits 88 mph, you're gonna see some serious sh*t"

reply

No, its not worth seeing, it is awful and not funny at all. You cant even make out whats being said half the time.

reply

I concur. Most of the "jokes" are not funny at all and leave you wondering why they even bothered to make such a film.

reply

Are any of you english? i thought it was really funny and i dont know how you couldnt understand what was being said...
it serves its purpose for being a light hearted english comedy... if you go into it with a smile you'll enjoy it

I'd imagine you're american.

If you're a Yank, I can pretty much bet my life savings that you probably won't get the jokes, as its aimed at us the Brits, as it is sarcastic and dry, not like the usual crap that America has for comedy, brainless slapstick humour who's audience it's aimed at requires the IQ of a broken piano.'

YES! That is what I've been trying to say, you sir are a genius.

Anyway, watch this film, it's one of the best comedies in recent time.

hey hkmastergaming,
I'm American and I liked this movie. I don't know if it's becuase I have played "bowls" or because I get the jokes. Either way...I'll be expecting your life savings in less than two weeks. Thanks.

I'm American and I thought it was really, really funny! And the bit that most American seem to like best about it (Vince Vaugh) was the worst in my opinion, but that's mostly because I think he's a moron, haha.

I wish more Americans would give Brit comedy a chance... it's MUCH better.

AND I could totally tell what was being said the whole time. It's not that hard...

So rock on, Brit-person. And grow a sense of humor to the other guy, haha.

first of all are you american next you can understand what thay are saying they are speaking english.and it is funny i give this movie 10/10

I really enjoyed it. It's crude and probably more suited to an English sense of humour, but it's very funny. I'd recommend it for anyone who likes Paul Kayes usual stuff. If you can't stand him however, you'll probably hate it.

Keep St George in my heart, keep me English, keep me English till my dyin' day

Do you remember Dennis Pennis? When he walked up to Demi Moore and asked if it was done tastfully, would she consider keeping her clothes on in a film!

Classic TV moment.

reply

Yes, it's very funny.

reply

It is indeed very, very, very funny........... It made me laugh all the way tru and i'm not even English. But i love England, you Brits are just great!!!

I'm from Antwerp.

By the way, a wonderful cast. I had never seen the actor who play's Blackball's grandpa in ennything els but in Fawelty towers as the spoon sails man. And ofcorse Imelda Staunton with her ledgendery movie cariaire.......

Well I liked it!
After reading the other comments posted around here I can see it's a movie you'll either love or loathe. True it's in the Happy Gilmore league but takes a much diffent story. It does have English style humour in it and Vince Vaughen's character is taking a rather extreme example of how to pervert a somewhat dull game and make it appeal to the masses with outrageous hype. Something similar to American style wrestling entertainment (which is agian is similar to Happy Gilmore screwing with golf!). If you don't like things like Hitch Hikers guide To the Galaxy or Shaun Of The Dead then it's not the movie for you!
By the way in the UK this was not marketed under the National Laampoons Banner and was produced by the rather small Isle Of Man film Commission.

Well I have to say that this film is one of the funniest british films I've ever seen, and I've seen a few, you know with me being English an all.

What can't you understand, the accent, the humour?

If you're a Yank, I can pretty much bet my life savings that you probably won't get the jokes, as its aimed at us the Brits, as it is sarcastic and dry, not like the usual crap that America has for comedy, brainless slapstick humour who's audience it's aimed at requires the IQ of a broken piano.

It's extremely funny with the obvious stealing the show, Paul Kaye was born for this part and he executes his character crisply.

Lastly, I don't have a clue why this film is labelled 'National Lampoon's', I thought that title was only used for films with Chevy Chase in them! What's next, National Lampoon's Shaun Of The Dead?

Anyway, all in all, 9/10 comedy that is pure British intelligent humour!!!

How ironic...

"... brainless slapstick humour who is audience it's aimed at requires the IQ of a broken piano."

Did that make sense?

"Who is" = "Who's".

I think maybe our friend was trying to say...

"... brainless slapstick humour whose audience it's aimed at requires the IQ of a broken piano."

Funny that this error came in a sentence where he/she was trying to call into question the IQ of another person (or a whole nation, in this case). I could also mention the omission of the apostrophe in the first occurrence of "its aimed", or the fact that the whole paragraph is one long sentence with 5 commas.

Someone can critique my post and find errors. I'm sure of that. But I'm only pointing out errors in this post because they stuck out like a sore thumb in a post that was calling other people stupid. These type of errors run rampant on discussion boards, but I'm not here to point them out in any other posts, only here where the irony involved made it too irresistible.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but I plan to. I have always enjoyed British humor. I think I avoided this movie because the DVD cover seems to try too hard to look like Dodgeball, and I assumed therefore that the movie couldn't stand on its own.

I loved it and I'm Australian.

Didn't like the end though.

I thought it was cute rather than funny but I did enjoy it. And some of the most well-respected "characters actors" in England are in the film. I haven't seen Bernard Cribbens in yonks...
