I actually interpreted her grief at the end as the stirrings of realisation that she was pregnant by Sean the Younger.
That bedroom scene was left open-ended, after all...

He may not have been old enough to get her pregnant. Most boys have to be 12-13 before they produce viable sperm. I never thought of that aspect. I think it is most likely that she was just so emotionally drained from believing that her husband finally loved her and then finding out it was all lies. Imagine wanting something so desperately, and then finally getting it, only to find out you never had it to begin with.
