One thing I never got

If the kid wasnt Sean , then how did he know where Sean Died? He left a message for ana which her mother disclosed to her that he wanted her to meet him in the park and that she would know where.

I think that was the only part that bothered me or put a wrench in my belief that He wasnt the real Sean.

Any thoughts?

Maybe the boy was following her and was able to get there first? I don't know i think was Sean maybe and he could not remember that he had cheated on her in his past life and when he did it devastated him. I am not sure the movie confused me.

I am assuming it was in the letters.

reply

In the letters? He didn't write about his own death...

He probably looked it up in a newspaper database.

reply

He didn't write the letters. The letters were from Anna.

reply

I know, I should have written, "She didn't write to him about his own death." My bad.

Assuming what was in the letters?

I find it unlikely he wrote about the spot he would die in (in the future) in a love letter if all places.... Disregarding a precognitive abilities of course

It's reasonable enough that the boy could have looked up the husband on the internet concerning basic information about where he died and whatnot.

Perhaps to decode the film, we cannot make assumptions. Perhaps we should only give weight to what information we are actually given by the film.

And that is what messes with my head. He believed he was Sean up to the conversation with the mistress. I still believe he wasn't Sean, but each time I watch the movie, I question it more. I question that I didn't understand his denial at the end just a little. Because this Sean could leave Anna.

reply

Real Sean could have died at their special place, just a coincedence. I know it sounds thin, but why not?

reply

Again, that is to assume something we are NOT told in the film.

He didn´t know where Old Sean died. He just said to meet him in the park "you know where". She then spends 4-5 minutes walking/running to the park. Ample time for Young Sean to follow her. When she arrives in the tunnel, he isn´t standing in the exact spot where we saw Old Sean die; he is walking towards her.

Besides, how would Anna know exactly where Old Sean died? It´s unlikely that she was the one to find him. More likely another jogger found him (it´s always the joggers that find dead bodies, isn´t it?), called EMT, who then rushed him to the hospital, where Anna identified his body. They would probably have told her that they found him under the bridge in the park, but not EXACTLY where.

Since he´s not a complete stranger in the building, it is likely that his father would have told him - "that lady´s man died under the bridge in the park on the exact day you were born, spooky huh?" No, we don´t see that, but we don´t see Old Seans spirit transfer to Young Sean either.

One word: internet.

It's feasible that he simply followed her to the place. After all he comes from a different direction from the under pass, he could have followed her and then gone around the other side of the under pass and pretended he'd come from elsewhere...
