Rape allegation s2 (spoilers)

In the episode first episode of season 2, we see that Tony is accused of rape by one of his students, while we know that he didn't rape her or even have sex with her I am always confused by the scene. She kisses him and he definitely reacts and it looks like he's kissing her back and then pushes her onto the couch. The next scene we see is of him is when he's tending to the scratches on is face etc.

So are we shown images of him kissing her to suggest it could be rape/sex or are we supposed to believe that he never reacted and was trying to resist the whole time?

I agree, it was confusing.

I didn't think we were suppose to 'know' that Tony didn't rape his student and that's why they shot the scene so ambiguously. Like how the next shot of them together right after the kiss was him holding her by her wrist against the wall. In that moment you don't know if this is foreplay or him getting her off of him. It was suppose to play against the whole 'she said, he said' nature of the situation when they juxtaposed Tony and Laura's interviews about what happened.

Agreed.

The way I saw it (just recently rewatched it), at first I assumed that they'd had consensual sex -- rough, kinky, super sexy sex, but consensual all the same. But after it's mentioned that they didn't have sex at all, I believe what happened was that he did kiss her back initially, and they started to get sexy, but then he must've stopped it and said he couldn't do that or something. Then she got all scratchy.
