Seriously ... Keanu Reeves or Jack Nicholson?

I know, it didn't fit the plot and obviously Erika was more in love with Henry than with Julien, but honestly...

If you have the choice between a lovely, smart, funny, SEXY!!! Keanu Reeves, who in addition adores you and on the other side the undoubtfully witty and funny, but still Jack Nicholson - what woman would choose Jack Nicholson?

As much as I love him - I'd go for Keanu all the way!

What about you guys?

Everyone can't be straight. Everyone can't be beautiful. Everyone can't be the same.

I could go either way on this one. I really love them both, and I tend to be more attracted to older men. But isolated from the movie...Keanu. Hands Down. But as characters in the movie...if I were Erica....Jack...Hands Down.

i definitely would have chosen Jack Nicholson!! Keanu Reeves in this movie couldnt act that well i thought..

Jack Nicholson, no question (:

Keanu - though I'd be worried about a big age difference though.

Just my two cents.

I like Keanu's character, truly in-love with Erika. Jack Nicholson's character is kinda playboy.

Definetely, Keanu!

I think this is one of the points of the movie, and why it feels so authentic to me because I've had this experience. It's not about how good someone looks on paper but about the chemistry you have with the other person. You can go out with someone who is lovely, smart, funny, sexy, but that someone will never measure up to the person who for some other reason or other you have an inexplicable attraction to.

reply

Keanu, because he was so sexy in this movie.

I think that's what doesn't work with the film: maybe surprisingly there is a better sexual chemistry between Keaton and Reeves than between Keaton and Nicholson. Paradoxically, the film proves the opposite of the point it sets to make: age doesn't matter one bit, attraction does (an opinion voiced by Julian in the film but the director seems to take the opposite stand). While Diane and Jack have great complicity acting wise and work well together in the farcical aspects of the film, their romantic involvement seems contrived and heavily relying on scripted props like scissors and reading glasses. The scenes with Keanu have more erotic tension in them and more spontaneous playfulness. I find Nicholson entertaining but without Reeves, this film would have been seriously lacking in the romantic fantasy/sexiness department. At the end, the film hammers one on the head with the notion that the 2 old people really need to stay together but this is not brought on in a well constructed, convincing way but in a rushed, artificial manner. I still felt the situation was begging for a "best pals" interaction between Diane and Jack and a hot affair with the doctor. The script totally failed to convince me that Diane's character was physically more attracted to Jack, sorry. I also felt that choosing a self centered two timer burnt out sex addict that makes her feel miserable most of the time over a sincere respectful empowering guy who consistently boosts her self-esteem and her creativity is a depressing, masochistic, self-destructive choice regardless of any age or looks issue. And a comedy is supposed to be a feel good thing after all. This one really wasn't for me (other than wanting to comfort the poor doctor myself in the end :))

Ah! Lovely post veroniquem-2. I agree with everything you said...excepting that I would be the one to comfort poor dear Keanu in the end ;)

I didn't really care for Jack's character in this, yes he was entertaining and funny but I didn't see him as being really in love with Keaton ('s character), whereas love (and not just lust) was oozing out of Keanu's pores.

ps standing him up at the restaurant - very poor form, and then not even calling to apologise but instead self-indulgently wailing away on her bed? Appalling behaviour. She actually didn't deserve the doctor, he was too good for her. Let the two old fogies go look at rest homes together! (ok that's wicked and I was totally kidding) ;)

Look at this, it's a nighty. She would look sexy in that, you'd look like a moose!

You're missing the point...she had a connection with Jack that she would never have with Keanu. Yes Keanu was like the perfect guy and he was good for her, but she had special intense love for Jack. Jack was bad for her overall but she loved him a different way. Sometimes women have to choose between passionate love with a bad boy and companion love with a good guy.

i hope you choke on your bacardi & coke!
