that inuit guy gave charlie ivory to take his daughter to "YELLOW KNIFE!!.. yes yes YELLOW KNIFE!!" but where did he get he ivory in the first place? either dug up from the ground or found from walrus - too big to be walrus or maybe from wooly mammoth - YEH RIGHT - cant be elephant, they dnt live their. any clues to what animal(s) lives in the region of canada that possess ivory? apart from that... GREAT MOVIE..

Those are walrus tusks. Have you ever seen a fully grown male walrus. They are bigger then some compact cars. And whales do not have tusks. THey have baileen. The only whales with teeth are the killer whale and sperm whale.

Narwhals have a single "tusk", which is actually an elongated tooth...

and these were not even exceptionally large walrus tusks.

Fun factoid: they use these as kind of `spacers' or runners to glide along the bottom when they're feeding--keeps them from bumping their noses, or ramming into the sand, or whatever, and leaves really strange looking tracks in the shallows.

Could have been worse--could have been oosiks--and then we would have had to explain that to you. Eh, as Kanaaluq would have said.

BTW, it isn't unheard of to find leftover mammoth and mastadon. I found a tooth once, in a gravel bed, a molar. Sometimes you even find something that was carved long, long ago.
