Am I missing something?

Yes this movie is indeed well produced, and the choice of music was good. But where is the story? What was this movie about?
When I see a movie people say is good and I end up disliking it, I usually give it a second chance. I just didn't get it. There was this big build up to nothing. The sub-plots went nowhere. Characters appear and disappear, they utter cryptic dialog and you never hear from them again. The ending was a big a dud. The last 5 minutes alone seemed like it belonged in another movie. All in all a disjointed mess? Did half the movie end on the cutting room floor? Am I wrong? Please someone explain this movie to me.

I agree. Technically, the movie was pretty good. I didn't understand most of the story and the ending was out-of-place. It wasn't very satisfying. I rented this movie because I like Jennifer Westfeldt; she was one of the highlights of "Keep Your Distance."

Even though it was 1.5 hours, it seemed a lot longer because nothing really happens.

I didn't get the point of this movie either, but it's not because of the actors.

The problem for me is that Melody came across as a heinous bitch in her first scene and David was an empty suit but apparently I was supposed to find them likeable and hope they'd get together.

No you're all right, this movie blows. Mr Hollywood Stu (I knew him when) came back to his hometown to make his second film. Did he hire anyone local? Actors, Crew..anybody? Nope. Nice job jackass...plus your movie sucked.

this shouldn't even be called a movie...no story, no action, no nothing. Geez...I've never seen such a stupid thing...those actors are like saying nothing and acting like idiots for nothing. Why is that idiot insisting so much with Melody if she's "busy with her job" and why is she so confused when NOTHING's going on? And those are mistery letters? Why did With or whatever his name is write them 4 David? What's the purpose? And the title...keep your distance? Why? Like what's going to happen? There's more of it? There's more NOTHING?
