Hellraiser:Deader was a good movie

I just watched the Hellraiser Deader movie and I loved it. The actors where good, and the movie had a good story line. I don't understand why some didn't like the movie.

I found it very boring, the gore made it up for it, though.

Pinhead's in HR5-8 more thna he's in HR1 and about as much as HR2 so that's a load of rubbish. Only Parts 3 and 4 use him lots and they're both two of the weakest films.

Deader was fantastic.

I wouldn't say fantastic, but it was definitely better than anything else since Hellraiser 2. Pinhead's screentime is still limited, but the time that he is given is well done, particular at the end when the cenobites come for Winter and the Deaders.

I'd actually put this in the top three best of the series behind Hellraiser and Hellraiser 2.

If you've ever read the original script (yes, it's still floating around online) for "Deader"--and I have--then you know they did a fairly decent job of adapting it to the "Hellraiser" mythos.

I would think the censoring for cable would really damage a couple of the more impressive sequences. The first trip onto the train and the knife-in-the-back scenes.

Ha... I bet the gore wasn't much removed but every single nipple must go! :P

I'm not referring to the censorship; I'm referring to the first scripted version of "Deader"--the non-Hellraiser related one. (Check out the "Trivia" section if you don't get what I'm saying.)

Personally, I think the Hellraise rone IS better. People say the cenobites were forced in but if you read the script it's clear this is NOT the case. The entire third act was written from the ground up again. I feel the original third act, with a hellish kitchen and demon shark monsters, was just... weak. Went too far into surreal for the sake of surreal and fell apart. The hellraiser one felt more satisfying to me.

My reply wasn't to you, Rose. Hard to tell on these boards sometimes; they're not too hot IMO. :\

No worries. Happens all the time.

I'm with Scarecrow 100% on that. I read an off-site review that griped about how this movie was "muddled and confusing" and had "no f____ plot." They wouldn't be saying that if they had read the original script. Yeesh, what a screwed-up bunch of crap....

For the record, I thought this movie was a unique and interesting take on the mythos. (For a really crappy movie francise installment, see "The Crow: Wicked Prayer". Or better yet, don't.)

Exactly WHY should one be required to read a script before understanding the film? That comment sums up in a nutshell exactly why this film is garbage. A movie is judged by it's own merits, not by fans attempting to justify it by expecting people to track down an original script and read it. That is in no way relevant, as the film makers did a lousy job with what was presented on screen...good intentions or not.

OK, so what's the speed of dark?

Actually you've missed the poitn of both his post and mine.

We're tlaking about the ORIGINAL Deader script, before it was made into a Hellraiser film. The point we're making is that ORGINAL script was ten times as confusing and surreal for the sake of it and that the final film made far more sense. We were NOT syaing anyone had to read the script. :)

It is a good movie indeed. More than likely may 2nd or third favorite Hellraiser film.

is this a remake of something?

One of the reasons I didn't like this is because 1/3 of the movie is a dream. What a huge waste of my time!
