Is he the youngest Holmes?

Is James D'arcy the youngest Holmes o film? I was pretty surprised when I started watching it, pleasently surprised. It was a nice change for a younger handsome Holmes, who's character had not yet become cold and calculable...not that I'm saying the other Holmes on film were not handsom - I mean Richard Roxburgh ;) *sigh*

Probably, apart from Nicholas Rowe. He was about 20 when he played Holmes as a student in Young Sherlock Holmes in the 80s.

Maybe I'm just weird, but I happen to think that most of the men who've played Holmes were quite attractive. I guess I just have a thinkg for tall skinny guys ;)

No, he isn't. He was 26 when this was filmed.

The youngest Holmes (film) actor is still Nicholas Rowe. He was 19 during the filming of Young Sherlock Holmes in 1984 (and released in 1985). Incidentally, Alan Cox is also still the youngest Watson (film) actor. He celebrated his 15th birthday during the filming of Young Sherlock Holmes.

I don't know who is the youngest actor to play Holmes (TV) or Watson (TV). Ditto with radio and stage adaptations.
