Has creativity left the building?

I haven't seen this film, and from what I've read I don't want to, but I have seen Can't Buy Me Love, and the previews for this movie, and I'm left wondering one thing. Have filmmakers become so un-original and void of creativity that we have to start doing re-makes of 80's teen flicks? I would have loved to be in that meeting when somebody pitched this idea. Regardless of the racial stuff too. This still would have been a stupid idea if starred Matt Damon and Julia Roberts. I mean, it's not like Can't Buy Me Love is a classic that NEEDED to be re-made, it is OK at best, and it wasn't the premise that made it a good film but the performances. And from what I've seen in the previews, this kid couldn't act his way out of a wet paper bag.

All I know is that if film makers are resorting to remaking 80's teen films than I want a remake of Revenge of the Nerds. And it won't be offensive to anyone too boot! There's white people, Asian people, black people, gay people, everything!

..Why is all the rum gone?
