Love both of the films but....

I have Can't buy me love and Love don't cost a thing at home love them both, but one thing puzzled me in both films. When the truth was exposed on why the popular girl was with the nerdy guy everyone was mad at him I understand that part, but what I don't understand is why did they forgive the popular girl? She was their queen and she betrayed them for money. Can somebody answer that for me?
