Kevin Chang's Can't Stop Won't Stop

I have this movie rented but haven't yet seen it. I was recently reading the pretty thorough new social history by Kevin Chang- called "Can't Stop Won't Stop: A Social History of the Hip-Hop Generation." I definitely recommend people look at this book; there's some interesting stuff on grafitti art culture as well (including, as I recall, an entire chapter on grafitti artists in NYC). The topic itself has the potential to make a very interesting film.....more after I actually watch the film. Just thought I'd throw that book suggestion out there.
I also want to recommend 2 books from Mike Males: Framing Youth, and Scapegoat Generation. Very well researched, fascinating, and persuasive case that young people in our society face serious youth-based forms of oppression, get a raw deal, demonized in the corporate media, etc....portrayed as thugs and hoodlums, especially young Black males. Mike Males is must-read in the study of youth issues, imo.
Peace, and happy viewing and discussion to you all. Feliz Dia de los Muertos a todos!
