Norman Reedus?

Anyone who has seen this movie, how big is Norman Reedus' role? For those of you who don't know, he plays Officer Schmitz. Also, I know he's American, does he do his own lines in German, or is he dubbed?

reply

i'm not sure 100% but i believe his role is only at the start of the film and fairly small. i don't remember him giving any long speeches in german, but he probably said a few simple things

reply

he was one of the policemen who got Gabriel Engel in his apartment. Officer Schmitz was harmed, then got into the room and saw the boy (the last victim) died.
Then Schmitz died in the hospital. Maybe he had a couple of words but i can't even remember.

reply

I think he swore, said something to a woman, swore some more, looked around nervously, screamed a bit, then nothing really.

If both cops (Schmitz +Wagner) died, then the square count is wrong.

I recognised his face and thought he done a great job, the begginning of the movie was pretty damn good, I tell you. i was hoping we would see more of him.

reply

He is saying two or three words at the beginning, over the intercom at the door. I don't know if they were dubbed, though.

reply

Nah, it was his own voice. How hard can it be to say 'Polizei?' with enough training?

I wondered why he was in this movie. It was indeed just a very small role and it sounded like his own voice saying a line or two in German. His name was the first one on the cast list at the end. That seems odd, too.

I've already seen the worst movie ever made, so it can only be uphill from there.

reply

The cast list was in order of appearance, not importance of the characters.

His only line in the movie is: "Polizei. Sie haben angerufen." ("Police. You called us.") when he is talking over the intercom to the old woman who lets him and his partner into the house where the killer lives.

The line sounds perfect and I wonder if he actually speaks German, though I guess it wouldn't be too hard for an actor to manage such a small speaking part without an accent.

I just saw this on Netflix and was surprised by how small the part of Reedus was. Netflix makes it almost seem as if he is the star. Even the main page here on IMDB reads, "Stars: Norman Reedus, Christian von Aster, André Hennicke"

I'm aware that it's just a movie. There's no need to remind me.

I was so confused as to why he was in this movie! It's pretty much an all-German production. His involvement seems so random. His ex Helena Christensen is from Denmark and he himself used to model for a lot of European brands so maybe on one of those trips over there, someone he knew asked him to be in the film. I loved his cameo though and thought he did a great job - really wished he knew how to speak German and could've had a bigger role. I'm not even a huge Norman Reedus fan and even I was like, "whoa, that beginning was good!'

reply

If you blink you'll miss it.
