The Silence of the Lambs rip-off

I was willing to look past it until the interrogation scene. It systematically rips off every beat and structure of the scene in Lambs, thinking it can be forgiven simply because the killer references Hannibal Lecter.

Interesting theory, do you have evidence to support that?

Interesting question, as you give no evidence to support your theory. troll.

The film does at least pay homage to Silence of the Lambs when Engel first meets Michael and says, "What did you expect, Hannibal Lector?" The basic premise of the film is similar on many levels: small town cop meeting sadistic killer while they develop an uncomfortable relationship. The small town cop is tormented by the killer's words, but he needs the killer's help to find a new killer, etc. etc.

There are a lot of mirrors for the Hannibal Lecter scenes in the Silence of the Lambs, but the murderer is a pedophile/rapist in this one, and he shows a lot more emotion that Hannibal Lecter, especially when he talks about his own past... Hannibal was also cannibalistic, and much more high-status, since he was an esteemed psychology professional before and during the killings. I do see your point, though, but I loved this movie anyway.

It was Silence of the Lambs meets Seven except the psycho loses at the end.

You could say that every serial killer movie after 1991 has been influenced by Silence of the Lambs. This one also had some similarities to it, but not enough to call it outright rip-off.
