At the magazine's party

Jenna threw the shrimp tail away without any concern about where it landed. She also threw the rind from her pineapple off the 2nd floor without regard to the people down below. I don't know of any 13 year olds who would do such things. Did this occur to anyone else?

reply

wasn't she drunk? or did she order her cocktail virgin? i forgot...

reply

She had just gotten there when she took the shrimp, and had not had anything to drink yet. So she definitely was not drunk.

reply

I realise this is a bit redundant now but I'm pretty sure she ordered a "Pina Colada NOT virgin".
And Kitty is right - she hadn't had a drink yet when the horrifying shrimp incident occurred. 🍹

If it's a boy, do you think it will look like Rodney? It doesn't matter as long as it's healthy!

reply

I thought about that too. I know that I knew not to do that at 13 (even long before 13). I guess it was just to over-show how she had no idea what she was doing.

reply

I can see myself doing this if I was there and drunk. Maybe not throwing it wherever but putting it down in a random place, or just dropping it on the floor. Can't really blame her if there was no where to throw it out :p

reply

It was already mentioned that she wasn't drunk at the time. And you would really do that?

reply

Do not underestimate the today's youth. I've seen people doing much worse things.

reply

she wasnt "TODAYS" youth if you recall she was 13 in 1987....

reply

Well, it was supposed to be funny that she was acting like a kid at this party. I had no problem with her doing that or asking about her ID.

reply

chill out,its just a movie;its not real

reply

I agree with Tony. People need to quit nickpicking at every little thing. It's a movie. That was suppose to be there for comic effect.

"The idea that some lives matter less is the root of all that's wrong with the world."

reply

Tony and running:

People have a right to express their opinion without being told to "chill" and that it's "just a movie." We KNOW it's just a movie, but "movies" are the number one expounder of propaganda, which is used to influence various mores of society.

I am interested in everyone's opinion; which is why this board is here. And, unless you are prepared to discuss the various meanings for her "throwing stuff" (since it is not inherent to the movie or scene) then perhaps you are missing something important.

IOW, just because YOU don't see the importance of something, doesn't mean that "it" (whatever "it" is) isn't important. It merely means that it is "unimportant" to you. However, if you saw something that mattered to you, would YOU appreciate being told you are basically foolish for noticing that something? I suspect that is a redundant question; of course you are going to say that it wouldn't bother you; but, I'm going to believe that it would, since someone else's concern bothered you to the point that you had to tell them to "forget about it" and that takes a huge amount of arrogance (to tell others that their concerns are trivial).

reply

It was kind of Lucille Ball-ish who wasn't a kid and did things like that. So it's possible. Maybe not probable but I know some kids who do really annoying things.

I think once I realized it was a fable I went along for the ride and didn't even consider this to be weird. Also, I think the items kept hitting the same dude. That cracked me up.

reply

I know lol it is funny that now you mention it

The same guy being hit was funny but I think Tom Hanks eating the baby corn was funnier.

I thought the same thing as the OP, she was a little old (13) to be throwing her food waste around and should have known better.
