Why Liberty's Kids Was Beneficial

When I was 10 years old, one of the best, most epic cartoons premiered on PBS- a show called Liberty's Kids! This show taught me a lot about the birth of America through the eyes of 3 young peers. I watched this every day after school in 5th and 6th grade- or whenever I could. But, here are some fun facts you guys might not know about the Liberty's Kids series. This show also served as a birth to my teenage years for 3 main reasons: the age difference between the 3 main characters and me, my success in the marching and concert band at Highlands High School, and my enjoyment of several teen sitcoms on Nickelodeon and Disney Channel.
The first main reason that this series was beneficial was because of the age difference between me and the 3 kids. Sarah, James, Henri, and I are all 2 years apart- both in the series and real life. James is the oldest son who is 4 years older than me, Sarah is the middle daughter who is 2 years older than me, and Henri is the youngest son who is 2 years younger than me. I could relate to these 3 kids very well, because James was 14, Sarah was 12, and Henri was 8 when the show premiered. Back in my tween years, rather than people my own age, these were my best friends, and we were like one big, happy family.
The second main reason why the show was beneficial was because of my success in the Highlands High School Varsity Marching and Concert Band for 4 years. Liberty's Kids was the flagship show for my tween years that originated band success. If I didn't watch or enjoy it, then I wouldn't have been in marching band. I played cymbals and other percussion in the band. I do not know if other people in the band at that time ever watched this show, though. Just don't tell my band director, Mr. Beresik! It would actually be cool to see James and Sarah be the drum majors for band instead of journalists for a newspaper.
The final main benefit from watching Liberty's Kids was my enjoyment of several teen sitcoms on Nickelodeon and Disney Channel from 2003 to 2011, such as Lizzie McGuire, That's So Raven, Drake & Josh, Zoey 101, etc. Although I wonder how this series would get along with 2 shows that premiered in 2007 long after the show ended- iCarly on Nickelodeon and Wizards of Waverly Place on Disney Channel. I might even post a follow-up forum asking you guys which sitcom is the most like this show- iCarly or Wizards of Waverly Place?
Overall, Liberty's Kids was a beneficial series to me because of the age difference between the 3 main characters and me, my success in the band in high school, and my enjoyment of Nick and Disney teen sitcoms. I would recommend this beloved animated series for all kids and teenagers, whether it be for learning about American history or growing up to be a teenager.
