This movie rocks - seriously!

C'mon - I was a bit concerned about renting the follow-up in light of the "bad press" a lot of people around here gave this...

I was happily surprised! It's a good story mixed with action - it's a nice update to bring in new sidekicks and a different production team... the camerawork was great in this - and hey, how can you not like Christopher Lee?

Fans of the first WILL NOT be disappointed! For real!

And if you dig cool action thriller mixed in with a bit of hocus pocus cult backstory, then definitely you'll enjoy it - hey, like the first one, this one is ENTERTAINMENT...

Go rent it - you'll like it!

Jesus Tap Dancing Christ.

This has to be one of the worst movies ever. The longest and most insane chase ever. Everything is so absolutely over done that you can't look past the horrible plot and story to see the mediocore acting (which is the best part). Nice cinematography at some points, but for the most part its all shot in the same light (no brilliant light, 0 focus light... nothing!)

And at the end, you find out that nothing was happening in the beginning! Total garbage! Don't watch this "film"! Just go out and throw a ball against a wall, I'm telling you, it will be more enjoyable!!!

"The longest and most insane chase ever".
For me that's a good thing.

It seems for most people the plot is too weird but I liked this movie. The first movie was better though. I think people have too high expectations for this.

The drug dealer was played by Jo Prestia, who was a champion kick-boxer before being an actor (played in the chilling "Irreversible" and 49 other flicks). Knowing that, I found it hard to believe he would take a beating from Magimel, but that's being pedantic I suppose!

Overall, I enjoyed this movie but luckily I wasn't trying to follow the plot (by the way, who was that chick in the apartment - I missed that bit too!). It works well as an atmospheric series of action scenes.

im pretty sure that the chase scene in Crimson Rivers was the only on-foot chase scene that i've ever had the desire to rewind and watch again. it was probably the most entertaining scenes in the entire movie.

i agree so much that the chase was fantastic (and the movie very enjoyable); the fact that the chase setting was for one time NOT in a big city or desert scenario as we are used to in Hollywood Crap Action, but in the everyday, ordinary european backyards that everyone living there will recognize as authentic, made it very fun to look at. The whole movie breathed furthermore an atmosphere of reality that made the contrast with the story going its way even bigger; for example the supermarket scene was very memorable and uncomparable to other action scenes I witnessed.

Totally agree here lol. This was a very good thriller mixed with action, a great chase scene, a good mistery/ conspiracy atmosphere, but the end almost ruined it. It was so mediocre, bit of farfetched I can't give it more than 7/10 (BTW its a great grade). All of the "bad guys" die at once, there is no further explications about all the mysteries. They could have been much more creative. It would be great to see a fight between Reda and the monks (He could use the anphetamines to add him, after discovering it). I would like to know what was that book about and why it was so important.

Dont say Resident Evil sucks, its *beep* amazing !!

The end definitely ruin it for me. And I thought the end of RP1 was disappoting.

reply

Ditto to the original poster. I don't see how this is disappointing to anyone who liked the 1st one. The story was interesting enough even though at time it seems like a copy of the 1st one. And the action was imo better than the RP1.

And to those talking about the movie not being realistic. Hello snap out of it: IT IS A WORK OF FICTION!!!

Come on, bad monks on metamphetamines? Iggy Pop? Christopher Lee? Niemans cutting a swath through the mumbo-jumbo to lay down the whupass? Bring it on!

I don't know about you fellows, but I personally liked it. I'm a sucker for big action movies , and while primarily a murder-mystery and a Psuedo-Religous thriller, I found that the action and chase scenes were over the top in a good way, such as the part when the Mangiot MG Nest opens up on the car after they discover the bodies in the Fishing Hut.

But I am a sucker for so many other things this movie has. Jean Reno, Christopher Lee (in an admitedly much to small yet integral plot), Sweet chase scenes and Killer Monks on Nazi PCP with Automatic Rifles.

Word!!!

"Inside the dusters there were 3 men"..."So?"....."Inside the men there were 3 bullets" - d{^_^}b

I thought it was great fun, dark, stylish and suitably daft--the murderous monks were a hoot. The important difference between this and the vastly inferior 'Da Vinci Code' was that this movie doesn't take itself too seriously.

The long foot chase, best thing about this *beep* excuse for a movie, the rest was pathetically ugly and headache inducing.

The first was ok, other than the terrible ending. This was just... what? An endless chase scene where a guy dressed up as a monk shows off his parkour skills by jumping around buildings and then having a random stare off with the guy chasing him? What's the point of Marie asking the guy in the hospital questions at the end? What's the point of all the dramatic killings? Why intentionally get the police involved? What were they trying to accomplish with the book? Did the police actually have any impact on the story at all in the end? What the hell is going on in this movie?
