My friend Ali and I picked this movie up from a blockbuster... I most likely would have walked right past it, but Ali snagged it and we watched it that night and could not stop laughing... I have seen "The Birdcage", and also "But I'ma Cheerleader", but I was wondering if anyone knew any other gay/lesbian movies, preferably either in the horror or comedy genre... any other good gay/lesbian movies, in any genre really, would be apriciated

That is the same reason why my group of friends picked up this movie! A partial list of my favorite movies would include: But I'm A Cheerleader, Gia, Foxfire, Bound, Better Than Chocolate, and 8 Women. They're mostly dramas, but decent movies nonetheless.

One of the funniest gay comedies EVER is 'The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert'. I still laugh out loud every time I watch it!!!

If you're looking for something similar to 9DGG, try "Another Gay Movie". Check out queerhorror.com for a list of horror movies with gay characters. Haven't seen the gay slasher movie "Hellbent", but heard good things. David DeCoteau mades cheesy hoyay horror movies without gay characters(the Brotherhood, Voodoo Academy, Wolves of Wall Street, Leeches)and lots of guys in underwear (ususally pretty bad). There's a tv series "Dante's Cove", sort of a cheesy horror soap opera.

Another off the wall gay-ish movie is "Nowhere" by cult director Greg Araki. It has allot of cheesy horror-movie effects as well as cameos by a ton of celebs (Ryan Phillipe, Christina Applegate, Heather Graham, Scott Caan, Mena Suvari, Denise Richards, Traci Lords, Shannon Doherty, Rose McGowan, John Ritter) It has a similar strange-horror-comedy vibe to it.

For comedies: Eating Out (1 and 2), All over the guy, Girls will be girls (HILARIOUS AS HELL- all the women are played by drag queens, but it is done as if they are true women - hilarious dialogue- I still go around quoting it !!), Regular Guys (foreign w/subtitles, but you hardly notice, such a great movie).

If you're looking for mindless, check-your-brain-at-the-door humor, "Girls Will Be Girls" is hysterical. Also, "Trick" was really underrated.

If you want a great cop/buddy/thriller, you can't do any better than "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" with Robert Downey Jr. and Val Kilmer.

Another gay comedy Adam and Steve.

My mind numbs and my stomach goes all acid whenever somebody recommends THE BIRDCAGE instead of the original LA CAGE AUX FOLLES. I suppose some people don't like subtitles, but they are worth dealing with to enjoy superior acting, much funnier characterisations, and something fresher than "anti-semitism' as something to hang the bigot's fixation on--and the first sequel is almost as good.

BEAUTIFUL THING is another good place to go--sweet without being simpering.

And for darker elements: L.I.E., MYSTERIOUS SKIN and JOHNS.

Breakfast on Pluto.

Cronenberg: I got bored. That was traumatic.
