Question (SPOILER!)

So at the end.... she decides to stay married even though she knows the truth--Is she in love or just scared?

reply

Well.. she WASN'T married to him, so the question is moot. But clearly she felt love, she was too strong a woman to have let fear influence her.

My feeling is she DID come to loves him for himself after she realized the whole story. So my question is this:

Would it not have been kinder to confess her knowledge at some point so Dae-jin could see she loved him for himself and not just as his brother? (After all, some of the things she loved about her husband where his doing... a la Cyrano de Bergerac.)

reply

Hi

She had said nothing by the end of the film, but she may or may not have after that.

I must admit I did expect a scene after the credits with them both made up to look old and her telling him she knew. But this would have probably been a little too hollywood, and I'm glad it wasn't there. One of the main reasons I love Asian cinema is the fact that you aren't spoon fed everything.

As usual I'm dreading the hollywood remake of this.

She's actually pregnant by the end of the movie. She may have stayed with the brother due to that alone and/or she can't quite let go of her husband so a substitute of near likeness makes her feel better.

and I agree with the above post, she should tell the brother she knows who he is cuz he's really going through the most pain.

reply

I dont know if she will ever tell him, she just accepted that either way believing that he is ho jin. I guess its better to be in denial and pretend since it seems like her husband came back to her because he knows so much about her, either way despite how it came about, I believe that he will take good care of her even if it seems a little decieving, I truly believe that he loves her and mean no harm.
