Mel Gibson's 'Passion of the Christ' Sequel Titled 'Resurrection'

I can't imagine how he will handle it, other than making a semi-duplication of the not-very-good recent film, Risen...

It's all about Jesus' resurrection. I don't know if Jim Caviezel would be interested. I thought he quit movies.

Yes, it's about Jesus' resurrection, but that is a very short story, even when all the Gospel accounts are placed in one cinematic basket. That's why I thought of Risen, which tried to do the same thing, only complicating it with the improbable scenario of a renegade Roman soldier traveling with the post-Resurrection disciples. I am wondering how much, and what kind of, padding Gibson would use in his film.

Interesting bit about Caviezel... yeah, if he's out of the acting business, Gibson will have to hire someone else...or, maybe Caviezel would be willing to return out of enthusiasm for this particular project...

I shudder to think.

About time Mel did the long awaited sequel to Passion of the Christ.

Yes, there is some public demand for it, especially, of course, among MG fans. But I think it will take an excellent screenplay in order to pad out the story's running length - that is, to film it as written without adding-in non-biblical material, as he did in The Passion (and was done in Risen).

Perhaps a sequel might be a chance for MG to include several important scriptural teachings that he left out of The Passion. That, at least, would be a bonus, if he saw fit to do it.

Not sure what you mean, The Passion was a 24 hour period, 1 day, turned into a 2 hour movie.

The Resurrection was 3 days, Mel should have zero trouble with story length.

reply

Yes, that's true. But, you're not going to focus on the mundane pointless stuff. You need to sum it down to the important stuff, which under most circumstances isn't that long.

No he didn't. Stop lying.

When was Jesus thrown from a bridge? Or the thief's eye plucked out by a raven? Or where Satan, for some reason, takes part with the infant antichrist?

Take your own advice, stop lying.
Well, given your knowledge of your own religion and its texts, I guess technically you aren't lying, just ignorant

Passion of the Christ 2 with Chris Tucker. Google the Family Guy clip.

The article in the OP make it sound like this sequel is not actually going to be about Jesus. Jesus will probably just be a tertiary side character.

That's not really a sequel to POTC.

If the movie follows that "make up a fictional story that follows random people" template, it will probably be crappy.
