Autopsy

I don't know how well they captured the mutilation of this poor man but I can say that I have seen his autopsy. I participated in a leadership conference where we discussed hate crimes and bias in America. The officer who presented the autopsy pictures told us that we were the only others to see it since they were released only to him for this presentation. It was horrible to see what these men did to James Byrd Jr. I don't know how much you understand about his murder but I can say that it is far worse to see in pictures than to read about.

I read the book "Hate Crime: A Dragging in Jasper, Texas" and just reading the recount of what happened had a dramatic effect on me. I can't imagine the photos that were seen by jurors and those in the courtroom. Anyone and everyone needs to read this book to understand that hatred still exists and is prevalent in 2009.

Prevalent means 'widespread; in general use and acceptance." The attitude held by the men who killed James Byrd is NOT a prevalent attitude. Do certain--uneducated--people still think that way? Yes, but it isn't prevalent by any means.
Just some food for thought,
Peace, Y'all!

I think I read that book my first year of college, I recall the descriptions of his death so I am assuming I was that book. I had to skip to the pictures first to make sure there weren't going to be any surprises that would make me faint.
One of the reasons I have never watched this movie is because I am afraid of how much they show and if I can even fathom dealing with that.

I'm not reading your manifesto, keep your damn posts short!
