Stereotypes

Okay, it's bad enough that the grieving parents, the spooky kid, and the mad scientist stereotypes are present...that's to be expected. Well, maybe we were hoping for something better.
But WHY does the only black character in the movie have to me a menial domestic, who has premonitions of evil and attempts to murder the child in her care? Hell, she isn't even sophisticated enough to know not to open her door to some strange dude knocking on her front door!

I thought she was the only one smart enough and intuitive enough to see what was really wrong with the Zachary boy. And she was also the most humane--knowing the right thing to do and then not doing it for the sake of a strong sense of morality takes more than just guts.

I don't care if it's considered to be a stereotype or not, it's normal behavior. It would be strange if they weren't grieving.
