how do you pronouce Griet?

is it like greet or gret?

"Mcdreamy did the McNasty with
McHottie? That McBastard!"

reply

Greet

reply

Except that the g is not like in English, it's Dutch so you pronounce it like /x/, like you hear in Hebrew or Yiddish, e.g. "chassid"

reply

It's the same as the "ch" which it's in Scheveningen :)
And it depends on the accent too. There's the "hard" G and the "soft" G.

reply

I'm pretty sure it's 'greet'. Griet is a nickname, short for Margriet. It's mentioned in the bookk.

reply

It's neither, actually. It's Dutch and there is no proper way to spell it with English letters, phonetically, so it makes it difficult.
