During a real performance, would James Franco, as the non-dancer boyfriend, be allowed just to wander around backstage, especially as dancers were moving on and off the stage? That seemed strange to me.

Also, I couldn't understand why Neve Campbell's parents attended the company Christmas party which, like many office parties, was mainly drunk camaraderie and in-jokes (in this case, skits that lampooned various people).

BTW, I liked the movie, although I was just enduring the scenes and the weak plot in between the actual dances.
