Gay Characters Straight Actors

ok Just like in Bring it on the "gay" cheerleader is played by a straight actor and now the character "Greg" is another straight actor

It should be illegal

and dont give me that bs on If there talented enough they should play etc

Since being out gay is supposidly a career suicide give these gay character parts to who a the gay actor!!!!

reply

someone's a little touchy about something.

A lot of gay actors don't want to be typecast into roles as gay characters. Just like not every Jewish role should go to a Jewish actor. Most gay roles in movies like this are stereotypes anyway, so not necessarily every gay man acts like Hollywood's version of a gay man.

This is what you should do: Become a gay actor, and play gay roles, then you won't have to complain. >:)

actually, I think greg was straight but everyone in the movie , like tina and marnee kept calling him gay....there were a couple parts where he talked like he liked girls, then the above characters would give him looks, so he changed it to sound like he was gay....there was even one part of the movie, where he said "what i lose in funding i gain in manhood"....or something like that......i dunno, i've only seen this movie once (that's how much you really need to see it, because this movie is very, to understate it very nicely, bland....i could say worse, but this movie is not worth it......lucky me i waited till one of my friends was dumb enough to buy it, cuz she hadn't seen it before and she thought it'd be as good as the first, and it wasn't)

well, had to add my input...KB

i think the film made it abundantly clear that he was gay.

at the beginning when they're deciding on who will be in the squad he says something about smith being really pretty, and everyone pauses, and he goes 'oh you know, if she had a shlong.' or something along those lines.

and just because someone talks about manhood doesn't make them heterosexual.

reply

No thats like what the other person was talking about, He acted like he liked the girl, or thought she was hot until they gave him wierd looks so he quickly says that.

EDIT-----

I watched it again and I am pretty sure that the 'gay' guy is behind uh... whatsherface i forgot her name... Tina thats it. And when Whittier (what sorta name is that?) quits she takes off her uniform and his eyes go real wide, and when Whit is living he say call me (and does the phone thingy with his hand)

hey what a cool idea. maybe hollywood could start by only having scots actors play scots characters or humans abandoned in the jungle play tarzan; or only have murderers play murderers or catholics play dead 60s iconic presidents.
yeah. lets ensure that only lesnbian serial killers can play lesbian serial killers.

and do you know what... but i dont think will and grace does too badly given 'will' is played by a straight guy...

If an actor is a good actor and s/he plays a part believeably, why do we care what sexuality they are. Afterall, sweetie, we're talking about films, not propaganda documentaries.
