Series 3 ep 1 WTF *SPOILERS*

I had a quick glance and I couldn't see this topic before so apologies if it has already been asked but....

WTF with the first ep of season 3, I mean Ricky, Pete and Jamie all die and you didn't even see them - there were bloody stand ins - I mean what is up with that??? If they were gonna write them out of the series why didn't they do it in the last ep of season 2????

Oh Yeah and i was under the impression that Jamie was a main character - you can't just kill off a main character like that without drama and tears, etc etc can you?

EDIT: I only just got these on DVD - I never watched them when they were actually on the TV. Hence why I am late asking this!

I think at the time they put it down to scheduling conflicts. Although Jamie Draven was the main character, Ross Kemp was the main star so they dropped Jamie. Damn shame because it went downhill after those three left.

Totally agree. I really liked the first 2 series and I especially liked pete and ricky's sense of humour. Then it went crap when they put a woman in the SAS - I mean COME ON!!! I know its a drama but I thought at least they would stick to THAT rule!

I did read somewhere that Jamie Draven was keen to do series 3 but because of other commitments elsewhere he couldn't. The people who made UF probably wanted to continue the momentum of series 1 & 2 and rushed into series 3. Shame, because as someone said here earlier without Jamie, Pete and Ricky (my favourite character) it went downhill.

Cambridge man you know. His uncle Bertie and I used to break wind for our college.

didnt they get rid of chris ryan as a technial specialist type guy (cant remember the exact term) as well after season 2.

i loved this show when it was on but never got to see many episodes.... just ordered the first 2 series off of amazon. WOOP!

yer the show wasnt the same with out the key players, esp chris ryan, the scenaros in the first two series were real life i think to him, (not saying that the final 2 wernt real scenaros, but they wernt directed by someone who had been there as it got even more hollywood than the first ones)
then the producers and directors got to arogent and thought they didnt need him, and infact chris ryan got a lot of stick from ex regiment boys for staring in it.
Unfortuntly the woman part (no matter how well acted or directed) should not have happened, it was put in becasue of this silly sociaty of equal rights and equality we live in. There are no women in 22 reg in an active combat roll, thats not to say there will never be.
I can tell you know the dvd shelfs of nearly all squddies will have this dvd on it, it wasnt a bad programme.
The programme is a mix of mi5/mi6 ,Special forces , police work and Infantry all into a oner.
Ross Kemp and the directors have confermed the will be NO more made.

Well they also spent episode 2 trying to pass off the South Downs of what appeared to be Hampshire or Sussex, as Africa.

A little over half the main characters left, as well as one of the shows creators who was in the SAS, hence why the series seems to be more action focused and less on the whole SAS being psychotic loons (Not that that's a bad thing).

But what was worse was getting rid of Ricky, and then replacing him with ANOTHER black guy. I'm not racist, but Jesus Christ! Warrick on CSI dies so they bring in Morpheus. And Ricky was such an awesome character. *Shoots bad guys* "See? They love, they do. They love it." And he does it with just about every scenario.

Watching it myself - I'm wondering about all the clangers they dropped regarding the Oriental Airlines' flight departure montage..

At 24 minutes in - the aircraft has obviously received start and pushback clearance... ATC line is muffed - they would have been given DEPARTURE clearance; Clearance Delivery is not allowed to give takeoff clearance - this is ONLY given once the plane is lined up on the active runway and ready for its takeoff roll. Instead, Tower were giving the aircraft "takeoff" clearance while we cut to the ground staff removing chocks, ostensibly ready for pushback.

Also - would flight attendants be doing the safety briefing while the plane was taxying? Really? I thought all the FAs would have to be buckled in during the taxi and lineup phase...
