anyone else who loath this thing called 'prequals'?

I watched "Tremors 3" a few years ago, and enjoyed it alote, then i got excited to find out that there had just been a fourth installment out, so i was really looking forward to see it, but.. you know.. the whole "prequal" thing totally destroyd it for me. the characters and everything was new.. or old.. you know. according to me, "prequals" is probrably the most annoying thing when it comes to movies.

there was a man laying sick and weak in a hospital bed,
when they asked if he had any request, he said, i wish to see lucy's pretty little head,
he said, i'm getting too weak for my thin hands to even lift a pound or two,
seeing sweet lucy would do my soar eyes good,
seeing lucy's smile could water my dry throat,
nurse, that might be a little antidote,
before my voice dissappears,
i want to see lucy's face here,
nurse, please raise up my head and let me see the daylight
please open the window, and let me feel the fresh air and make my lungs feel right,
turn my head away from the white sealing,
and bring lucy, maybe i can get a feeling,
i waited and hoped for one week,
and finally i saw the angel stand infront of me

I don't know, somehow I like the idea of a movie taking place before an earlier installment, especially with prophetic references to the movies taking place after it. T4 is crap, but it being a prequel doesn't have much to do with that (although I missed Burt, and Hiram was a poor replacement).

T4 crap?? Are you kidding? It's awesome! I think it's easily the best sequel! It has a classic, epic-west narrative, great characters and development, and kickass effects done 95% in-camera. I LOVE Tremors 4, virtually just as much as I do the original Tremors.

(And on a side note, I really dig Tremors 2, and I would have LOVED Tremors 3 if they hadn't used so much bad CGI)

Funny how I hate this movie while most people seem to like it; usually it's the other way around. I thought the characters were poorly written and especially acted, and I never detected much development other than Hiram turning into Burt (or so to speak). The SFX were also bad in my opinion (in-camera SFX aren't necessarily good). Yeah, they used a lot of bad CGI in T3, but T4 used a lot of bad animatronics, so the difference between the two doesn't really matter.

Oh, well. Good to be on the other side of the fence for once.
