I just don't understand.

Half the people on this site seem to hate this movie, and I just don't understand why. Could someone explain this to me? Personally, I think this is the 2nd best one. The original being the best of course.

I watched Tremors 4 at work today and I thought it was a lot of fun. I mean, it's a movie about monstrous worm creatures, it's not like I was expecting Cassavetes.

Neither did I (I'm not familiar with that movie, but I get the picture), but I thought it was crap either way.

My main gripes are poor characters (Hiram is a poor man's Burt at best), even poorer performances (even Michael Gross sucked) and terrible effects. I wasn't expecting A-list acting, but not E-list, either. Everybody is praising the cutback on CGI, but that doesn't really mean anything when the animatronics suck, too. It's not like less CGI equals better effects, although that's the impression I get from a lot of people here. Obviously I wasn't expecting Jurassic Park, but I wasn't expecting sh*it, either. I also thought the story was poor. I hear you saying "I wasn't expecting Schindler's List", but I wasn't expecting a cheap rehash of Tremors, either. Sure, the other sequels also weren't that original, but at least they had new creatures, good characters and actors, and superior SFX. I also didn't like the prequel setting, I'd rather see a movie set after the others. I'm not all against prequels, but in this case it didn't serve any purpose other than concucting creative explanations to prevent continuity issues with the other movies (which I'll admit was done pretty well). Also, I didn't like the abscence of the other life cycle stages, especially Shriekers.

Have to disagree with you there. I liked that Hiram provided a different spin on a Gummer (and Michael Gross was good) and that this was in a prequel setting so it's something different. I'm not a big fan of the other life cycle stages, so I'm glad they kept it simple. As for the effects, I think in general the puppets work better than CGI (at least for these low-budget Tremors movies), and this was no exception.

Thanku :), I think I will skip part 4.

As much as I hate it, quite a few people do seem to like T4. So you might actually like it, after all.

I enjoyed it. It wasn't awesome and it wasn't particularly scary, but it was a nifty Tremors-style spoof on a Western and not a bad way to pass some time.

i dont understand why the *beep* did they made a tremors 4 it was crap
trilogy was great but the 4ourth god damn it was so *beep*

reply

The fourth is a great movie as well as the first three, it gave us a good insight on Gummer's history of how Burt is the way he is and that he is meant to fight them.

But one thing I thought would be in the movie is that at the beginning they would have Burt finding a letter of what happened in the 1800's.

(Family Guy)There is no Peter, only Zool.

reply

So Burt Gummer would be reading Hiram Gummer's letter or diary etc, and we would be seeing everything in flashback?

That would be a terrible idea I think. For one thing, the film would only be an hour long - starting when Hiram came to Rejection. At best, you could pad out the film with filler by starting in Hiram's Philidelphia office explaining that his mine manager was running out of miners or something, and he intended to travel to Rejection to find out why, then have half hour of Gummer's travels to get there...not exhilarating viewing.

As usual, it wasn't as bad or as good as some say. But interesting in fleshing out Gummer's backstory. And Drago is good as always.

I have the Tremors Terror Pack DVD set that has all 4 movies. My brother was over and we were looking to watch something we'd never seen. Doesn't happen too often, but we both had never seen Tremors 4.

We both wanted to turn it off about 10 minutes into the film, but we're troopers, so we carried on. We didn't hate the movie, but it is a BAD movie. I got some entertainment in the form of comedy out of it, which may have been the film's intention, rather than the horror aspect. I guess I would compare it to a Slither.

I would order the 4 movies, best to worst, in the order that they were made...1 2 3 4.

OAN...Michael Gross sure has fallen from his Family Ties days. I'd like to see him get better roles...he should fire his agent.

I really think that you should watch tremors 4, not because it is a good movie, which it is not, but if you liked the first one, which is a good movie, then you owe it to yourself to see the whole thing through, tremors to tremors 4. You started it, now take your medicine and watch all of them. None of them are really bad, but only the first one was really good.

personally i like part 4 too. i like western films, and i thought it was a interesting way to go with the series instead of trying to make a true sequal to part 3. learning about the town history, and the history of all the characters from the first film like chang's, burt's and even miguel's great great grandfathers.

i didnt think the special effects were bad, they were ok. much better then anaconda or raptor, or this rip off movie i saw of anaconda called python. now those have crap effects. i don't mind cgi effects as long as they are good, and done because it's the best way to do it, but i do perfer practical effects.

the only thing that bothered me about this film was how at the final battle, the characters were walking on the ground and how the graboids didnt slurp them up. why couldnt they be on the water tower, or attempet to look for higher ground? i also didnt like chang's wife either. she was abit annoying because of her on thought line. "in china...." enough about china. but she def. wasn't as annoying as grady from tremors 2, or mindy/mindy's mom from tremors 1/3, and i didnt appreciate desert jack all that much either.

the best thing about the film was the location, and some of the desert shots taken from this film. very beautiful stuff. i also enjoyed the new character black hand kelly. he was a bad mother. wish i could see him more, but he got slurped. i def. enjoyed seeing how those old guns worked and the creative ways they killed the graboids. like the use of the punt gun and the saw. wish i could of seen that machine gun used on a tremor. that would of been sweet, or a canon to bring the joke of burt having a canon from the first movie full circle.

but the idea of using a punt gun and the saw in the ground were neat ways of kiling graboids. i also loved the new character of black hand kelly. he was a true bad mother. he really brought it to the role.

I've just watched the last hour of it and didn't hate it. It's just stupid low budget fun.
