This movie should be around a 6.1

Garden State tried so hard to prove itself, and that's where it failed. It wanted to be a quirky, unique "indie" flick, but it just didn't feel believable. It ended just being quirky with little substance.

Braff did "okay" for his first movie, but wow, this was way overrated. It took Braff years to make another movie. It's almost like he even knew that his first attempt was a subpar attempt.

For those who said this movie spoke for "an entire generation". I hope you now have higher standard for an "entire generation" then a 2 hour melodramatic, in-your-face, pseudo indie flick.

It's like a 14 year old that says to her/his mother "you will never understand me!!!". But, actually she does, very well. You just don't know it yet.

Haha there's something funny about you specifically saying 6.1 instead of 6. Just say 6 dude. I will say that I was one of those people that overrated it the first few times I watched it, but I pretty much agree with you now. It hasn't aged very well and it does have a way of tricking you into thinking it's a better movie than it actually is. I think Natalie Portman was a big part of that because she plays such a lovable character.

I gave this movie a 5 back when I first saw it and I stand by it.

I mean yeah it's not the greatest movie, but one of the reason's I (and probably others) liked it is because it was relatable.
