Stodgy and uninvolving

Attractive and informative as it is, this is a pedestrian documentary that does little to rise above its material, namely, the letters exchanged between Spielrein and her famous colleagues Freud and Jung. And while it's clear that neither Jung nor Freud were above plagiarism, the film makes an inadequate case for the argument that Spielrein's works were instrumental - as opposed to merely inspirational - in the development of Freudian and Jungian theories about the death drive and transformation, respectively.
