The wierd inflections when he reads his own stuff...


When Ellroy reads passages of his own work he speaks REALLY oddly, with emphasis always on the last word of each sentence. I wonder if that's how it 'reads' to him in his mind when he's writing, because it actually comes across as very awkward when spoken that way.


"I'll book you. I'll book you on something. I'll find something in the book to book you on."

I completely agree. The only person who could have read his lines in a more bizarre way was Christopher Walken.
