Great synopsis!

I think he's asking how Pulp Fiction Facts is, the documentary, not the actual movie.

"Then you leave me no choice than to play you in a game of hungry hungry hippos"

reply

OK, I have not seen "The Facts", but before I go out and actually pay money for it... Does it say what is in the briefcase? I have heard rumors ever since the movie came out and I just wanted to know if they are true.

Just get the special collector's edition of pulp fiction, don't buy the facts separately. It's only fifteen bucks at circuit city and there's a lot of good stuff on it. About the brief case, I haven't watched the facts yet but I've heard Quentin say that the briefcase is whatever you want to be in it. He's not going to say in the documentary.

"Then you leave me no choice than to play you in a game of hungry hungry hippos"

reply

I seen it now (have got special edition) and tarantino is so fun in the beginning, his voice is so hoarse..lol!

and Uma is realy cute and young with lovely earrings.

anyone know this: all answears "no" "no way" on a question someone first asks to Wing Rhames, what do the y ask?? I can't hear it! annoying!

reply

I wish I had known about the facts dvd sooner. I was always wondering about certain things in the movie. I'll have to check it out.

reply

the strong rumour is that the briefcase contains marcelluss wallace's soul.

reply

I have heard this theory before, and I agree that it makes a lot of sense with the rest of the movie, BUT, I also remember hearing that Tarantino denied this theory in an interview...

anyone hear that it's the holy grail in the briefcase

Film critic Richard Roeper has another theory: In "Reservoir Dogs," a character says he's going to "drop the diamonds on a guy named Marcellus." It could be that this is Marcellus Wallace from "Pulp Fiction," and diamonds have been known to glow.

The Quent has been known to cross-pollinate his films. Like Alfred Hitchcock and Francis Ford Coppola, he's been known to use the same actors repeatedly, even in unconnected films -- and, like Hitch, use himself, though for much more than a few non-speaking seconds. Throw in Vic Vega/Vincent Vega, the reference to "Marcellus" in RD, and the fact that both RD and PF are out of sequence, and you can see it's not all that odd to suspect that the diamonds from RD become the contents of the briefcase in PF. Then again, we're talking The Quent here, so "odd" is relative.

I don't buy the "Marcellus' soul" theory. If Jules truly has seen the light (I apologize for the atrocious pun, especially since the film doesn't even show him looking at the cargo), then he would have told Marcellus that he has to be redeemed somehow, or else he will lose his soul again. Clearly, the man we see in the sequence with Butch the day after the fight is still in full gangsta mode. And if what happened to Marcellus after that doesn't turn him from "the life" (as mobsters call it... or would, if there really WAS a mob, hey, I'm crazy but I'm not stupid), then the retrieval of the briefcase is completely pointless. Unless its contents are NOT Marcellus' soul.

reply

I would have to disagree with you on the RD Diamonds Theory. Tim Roth's character asks "Is that what I think it is?" after viewing the contents. It it where Diamonds, there would be no question. Also, the glow coming from the breifcase is yellowish/goldish. Diamonds would not give off that glow.

I don't think even Quent knows what it is. It is a mind game he plays with the audience. Sort of like David Lynch. He just puts out a bunch of gibberish for viewers to guess what it means but I don't think it means anything. They are both of the philosophy that "There is a sucker born every minute". I say this with the utmost respect.

reply

Just need to clear up 2 things;
1. Contents of briefcase = MacGuffin
2. Light = irrevlevant
The light coming from the briefcase was not in the script, QT added it on the spur of the moment.

You're correct with your breakdown except for one thing. It's "The bonnie situation"

reply

by not telling us what the contents of the briefcase are, tarantino forces us to focus on the characters reaction to it rather than the contents themselves. Thats why he never reveals what's inside the case!!!!

reply

Total cool theatreman123! But, why's Vincent in Butch's appartment? Anyone!?!

reply

Vince is in Butch's apartment to whack Butch for double crossing Marcellus (he didn't throw the boxing match).

reply

Maybe because I am Indian(asia);i found the scene when Butch and M exchange money absolutely uncomprehendable;didn't understand a single word(watched the scene thrice). But now I think I get it.

He pays the money to drop the match, but Butch ends up killing his adversary in the match, right? Now everyhting makes a lot more sense.

reply

You're right, he's paying him to loose but wins & has to be shot by Vincent Vega in the 3th sub-film

reply

"According to Roger Avary, who co-wrote the script with Quentin Tarantino, the original plan was to have the briefcase contain diamonds. This seemed neither exciting nor original, so Avary and Tarantino decided to have the briefcase's contents never appear on screen; this way each filmgoer could mentally "fill in the blank" with whatever struck his or her imagination as best fitting the description "so beautiful". The orange light bulb (projecting shimmering light onto the actors' faces) was a last-minute decision and added a completely unintended fantastic element."

So there you have it.

reply

whats in the suitcase is the oscars that have eluded Tarantino for his entire career.

reply

I think Crackers make up the contents of the briefcase.

reply

Im Pretty sure its 3 large Buffalo and a Dodo egg

reply

we'll since butch didn't throw the fight as agreed, he and marcells went to execute the scumb bag.

reply

The fact about the contents of the briefcase is that it was not meant to be anything. It is so unimportant that it has no value, only the reaction of people to it. The soul theory is quite logical, seeing that Jules witnessed an act of God while trying to do an act of God (bring back the soul) and other evidences in the movie, but another theory is also there as to its being Elvis presley's golden jumpsuit. Jules calls it 'his boss' dirty laundry' so it might be clothing and even Ringo (tim roth) knows what it is so it has to be famous.

Anyway, the briefcase is a macguffin, never meant to be shown and so never will be shown.

reply

hahahaha jeremyroenick, did you get the movie at all :D? ahhaha
