What IS brown sauce?

I've never heard of it before! Is it just a British thing?

reply

Yeah.. it's pretty popular in UK. Particularly with bacon and sauages and stuff.

It's made out from vinegar, tomatoes and spices. i think it used to be made from apples too... it's an aquired taste. I've never heard of anyone putting it in tea tho; i suspect it may be *beep* or a prank on the audience.

I can't believe anybody would put brown sauce or any other kind of outside flavoring on bacon. It just doesn't seem morally right to me.

Either brown sauce or ketchup with a full English/Irish/Scottish breakfast.

reply

It's a sauce that divides people. Some swear by it and others wouldn't touch it with a barge pole.

Who said Dublin was a part of the UK? They said brown sauce is popular in the UK which it is and generally speaking anything that's available or popular in the UK is also available and popular in the Republic of Ireland, especially it's capital.

reply

I thought that was to the OP asking if it was a "British thing."

reply

Brown sauce is a British and Irish thing.
