A Fine Movie

Very sensitive, very deep I totally agree with Mr D.Packard

reply

I disagree with you.
It was the most boring movie i've ever seen! i don't really think that it's interesting
to watch a banch of loonatics in a hospital.
And Mr Packard is pipas

i agree with you. this movie completely blows. my friends and i could not stop laughing at it every time bryan adams showed up. in actuality, he only showed up twice for us because we turned it off after half an hour. it's a deeply horrible film. maybe they respect brian adams more in russia or something and find him a great template for madness. it'd be like if it was done in french and the woman dreamt of jerry lewis singing "lady". again, i can't believe what a steaming turd this movie is. even if it was only a half hour i watched......

I don't know where you come from and how old are you, but I'm sure you don't understand anything about movies. Go and see "American pie", if you want to smile. Go and see "The Fast and the Furious" if you want to be entertained. Go and see "Lost in traslation" if you want to cry. That's *beep* but maybe they are right for you and your friends. If I wanna smile, cry or be entertained, I will watch again "Dom durakov", becuase it does these 3 things together, and in an intelligent way. 10/10

The score is rising I hope it gets up to around 7.5 which I think that is what it really deserves.

Yes, all those three emotions in a single movie is a very hard thing to do. And it was done so beautiful. 10/10 too.

acting was bad at times. and portrayal of chechens and russians could've been more neutral. but the movie is great. definately something to see. a new kind of experience.

Loved it and agree with Mikiville that Lost in Translation sucks (hello again, by the way, Mikiville). 10/10 in my book too.

Also-- anyone know much about the girl who plays Janna? Loved her, too...

And after that, well, the game was mine.

Please please tell me how can this movie be more neutral ?!!?! I never seen a movie more neutral than this! I admire the director for this.

AWESOME MOVIE !!!!!
Totally surreal and Totally in ( or out ) of touch with reality. I saw so much in the movie. absolutely stunning film. Go watch a mediocre Hollywood trash film if you do not find this movie moving. If you hate this movie then you need to go watch a classic Steven Segal movie for some "Real" entertainment !

reply

umm take all the chechen characters and all the russian characters. compare them. tell me it was neutral...

perhaps it was on purpose to get back at all the pro russian movies.

reply

I agree. When I first saw that it was made by the Russians, I immediately drew my bias shield, since I know that Chechens and Russians aren't really best buddies, but I was pleasantly surprised.

Apart from that, it was a good movie - actually, one of the best Russian films I have seen - but it had a few plot holes, but I could live with it.

This movie was too random for me. I really had no idea what it was about when my friend put it on, but it never really got any clearer. I do have to say I liked Zhanna's performance. And the fact that Bryan Adams would randomly pop up and start with the same exact song everytime made it hilarious.

This movie stopped me from going to bed last night. It was coming on just as I was about to turn the TV off, and I stayed perched on the edge of the sofa for the next two hours, until the end of the film. I thought it was riveting and beautifully made, and I felt pulled into life inside the institution until I felt as alarmed by the beginning of the invasion as the residents.

It's very true that not everything as obvious as slapstick or as 'beautiful' as plastic surgery is easily definable as entertainment. It's also true that there are occasionally places and times for slapstick and plastic, but this movie fills a different need, in that it shows us experiences with which we may be unfamiliar, and shows us varying degrees of happiness, despair, contentment and confusion.

I haven't stopped thinking about this movie for the 24 hours that have passed since I'd finished watching it. I even dreamt about the movie. In that respect, I think it's a wildly well-done movie.
