How Icelandic women are portrayed in film

I've seen several Icelandic films now - mostly comedies with dramatic bits, except for "The Sea" which is mostly a drama with funny bits (the animals get all the laughs). I thoroughly enjoyed the films "White Night Wedding" and "The Seagulls' Laughter."

I start to wonder though, with many of the female characters in these films being quite... unhinged. Dynamic and fascinating yes, but undeniably nuts. Do Icelandic women in real life have this reputation? [aside from that airport incident with Bjork]

I visited the country several years ago and everyone seemed quite calm and friendly :)

This film is downright bizarre in my opinion. Definitely not based on real life
